3rd Annual Emissaries of Memphis Music
The 3rd Annual Emissaries of Memphis Music Celebration will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Memphis Botanic Garden. The 3rd Annual Emissaries of Memphis Music celebration will pay tribute to the career achievements of eight remarkable women who have made significant contributions to the growth and sustainability of Memphis Music. The esteemed 2011 Emissaries are bassist and MTV’s $5 Cover star, Amy LaVere; American Idol finalist, Lil Rounds; award winning producer and sound engineer, Dawn Hopkins; Grammy nominated and EMI Gospel recording artist, Sheri Jones-Moffett; organic-folk musician and star of MTV’s $5 Cover, Valerie June; reigning Mid-South pop starlet, Dani; legendary Memphis songwriter and vocalist, JoJo Jefferies; and long time Silky Sullivan’s headliner, Barbara Blue. District Attorney General Amy Weirich, the first woman to hold this position in Shelby County, will deliver the occasion at the event. Mamie Coleman, Fox Broadcasting Vice-President of Music and Production, will be the keynote speaker.


District Attorney General Amy P. Weirich Speaks at The Legal Clinic "LIVE" & Emissaries of Memphis Music
Amy P. Weirich, Esq. was appointed to the office of Shelby County District Attorney General in January 2011 by Governor Bill Haslam. Attorney General Weirich is the first female to hold this office in Shelby County.

Prior to her appointment, Attorney General Weirich served as Deputy District Attorney General under former District Attorney Bill Gibbons. Ms Weirich is a veteran prosecutor who started serving in the Shelby County DA’s office in 1991. Over the past 20 years, she has served in many leadership roles in the office, including chief prosecutor of the Gang and Narcotics Prosecution Unit and division leader for the Special Prosecution Unit in criminal court.

Attorney General Weirich has received many honors for her skills in the courtroom, including the Board of Directors’ Trial Award for Outstanding Advocacy in Capital Cases from the Association of Government Attorneys in Capital Litigation. A graduate of Germantown High School, Attorney General Weirich earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of Tennessee at Martin and a law degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at The University of Memphis.


Meet The Emissaries 2011 Youth Motivational Mentor, Miss Tennessee USA
Ashley Durham is the reigning Miss Tennessee USA. She joins the 3rd Annual Emissaries of Memphis Music Celebration as the event’s Youth Motivational mentor. Upon graduating from high school in 2008, Ashley began studying journalism and public relations at the University of Memphis on an honors scholarship. Since her move to Memphis she has been actively involved in her university as well as the community. She has held the offices of Alumnae Relations, Operations and Recruitment for Alpha Gamma Delta. In spring 2010, her sorority teamed up with 2 other Greek organizations in the annual Greek Sing to raise money for Special Olympics in Memphis, TN. As the chair, she lead the group to first place in the overall competition as well as winning Best Costumes, Best Solo, Best Props while raising the most money for the cause. Ashley also enjoys raising money for St. Jude through Up Til’ Dawn on campus. She is also a proud member of the most spirited Tiger fans on campus, Blue Crew
