Rockin’ the Cradle

Rockin’ the Cradle

Elvis Aron Presley. Pop legend and cultural icon. The undisputed King of Rock n’ Roll. His name conjures an image of a flesh and blood young man whose leather-clad shakes and shimmies was too dangerous, too sexy, or too way cool–it’s all about perspective–to be ignored. He demanded our attention . . . and got it, and how! He still does, even though it’s been well over 20 years since Elvis left behind his sizable oeuvre and a burgeoning myth for our further consideration.

Biographies, tell alls, critical studies, even cookbooks including The King’s favorite recipes, continue to spin off the shelves in record numbers. There’s been no slackening with time. So much has been written it becomes difficult to add anything new on any Kingly subject. We didn’t even presume to try. Instead, we thought you might enjoy images of the city Elvis knew and loved so terribly much. We offer you Memphis, the Cradle of American Music, in the 1950’s.
